Use The Good Fabric

The basis for this quilt was the butterfly/firefly navy print; it's absolutely gorgeous, and for a long time I was saving it for a more complex pattern I never got around to making. A while back at a quilting retreat I decided to just go for it and use a 3-yard pattern from SewCanShe.com to create something with it and two coordinates from my stash.

I'm so happy with the finished result!

And here's the backing, which I pieced from green, yellow and orange strips. I made the green center jelly-roll-race style and then used the yellow and orange strips to make it wide enough to serve as a backing, and attached the wood-grain fabric to the top and bottom. I love how the whole thing turned out!

And the best part is, it's now living with a close friend going through some hard times, keeping her warm and feeling loved, I hope.

It's Mine!

That's the guild orphan-block quilt, on my bed in my house. It's mine!

The guild held a fund-raising raffle for it; the winner gave it to me!!!

And now I get to keep this amazing reminder of and tribute to the friendship and creativity in this wonderful community that I'm blessed to be a part of.

Next I want to get as much documentation as I can on who worked on it. I'm so happy!
